Identification of correct model year for US-Vehicles:

Question: Why do I have to identify correct model year and engine code of my vehicle before ordering parts?

Answer: If you don`t do this you`ll undergo a relative high risk to receive parts that won`t fit your vehicle! The reason for this is that US-Vehicles very often have a wrong initial registration date endorsed in European titles or registration papers due to longer shipping terms overseas and often terms where they have stood around for months at the brands dealer untill they have been sold. Due to this the endorsed and the actual modell year can differ easily up to one year ore more.

Example 1: You want to purchase a water pump for your vehicle. In the registration papers shows "initial registration = 1997". But the vehicle was already built at the end of 1995 and it is a 1996 model year sold in 1997. Due to technical design changes (only to the water pump, model type is tsill the same) your will order a 1997 water pump that won`t fit this 1996 model!

Example 2: You know that there is a 5.7 Liter V8 engine installed in your vehicle and that`s what the papers show. Often there have been two completely different engines installed in the same vehicle in the same year and they also have the same engine displacement (here 5,7 litre)! For this case the manufacturer set a different character or letter on a specified digit of the vehicles VIN-Number, which you easily can find out with the table below.
